Guatemala Expedition Itinerary

May 7 – Arrive in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

MAY 8 – A wonderful day meeting the staff of Mentors Guatemala, hearing them talk about their work, and meeting some of the clients they serve.

MAY 9 – Visit clients in the mountain region of Chimaltenango. See how the Kaqchikel people still wear their native home spun clothing. Experience their hard working and friendly way of life.

MAY 10 – Visit clients in the rural farms of Patzicia. Meet the families of these industrious entrepreneurs and witness first-hand the difference a small loan, business training, and mentoring can make in the lives of these innovative families.

MAY 11 – A day of sight-seeing and shopping, including a drive to Antigua, a city in the central highlands of Guatemala famous for its well-preserved Spanish influenced architecture. We will also visit some spectacular ruins and colonial churches.

MAY 12 – In the morning we will fly to Flores, gateway to Tikal. Enjoy a guided tour of the stunning ruins of Tikal, a popular Mayan site. Tikal is the largest excavated Mayan site in the American continent. It is Guatemala’s most famous cultural and natural preserve. Return to Guatemala City that evening.

MAY 13 – Fly home from the Guatemala City Airport

Step 1: Complete our Expedition Application.

Step 2: Submit a 50% deposit (per person) payment by March 5, 2017, to secure your place.

Step 3: Prepare for departure. Make sure your passport is in order. Consult your doctor for any necessary immunizations and vaccines. Purchase Travel Insurance. Purchase your airline tickets. If you are going to book your ticket through Delta, we ask that you add our SkyBonus account number (US841226194) to your SkyMiles profile prior to purchase. You still earn your miles, but Mentors also gets mileage credit without taking away from your miles.

$1,900 payment to Mentors International.

Includes: all meals and beverages, gratuity, local transportation, hotel accommodations (based on double occupancy and excluding incidentals), translation services, security, partner and staff costs.

Does not include: U.S. – Guatemala round trip airfare, travel insurance, immunizations, incidentals, passports, souvenirs, and tips.
