We are looking forward to participating at the UN’s Civil Society Conference in August as we partner to build inclusive and sustainable cities and communities. We are excited to share the mission and message of Mentors International. How we have been helping to break the cycle of extreme poverty for over 30 years. Sharing how we empower women to create a change in their own lives and experience life differently. BECAUSE of Mentors International, BECAUSE of education, BECAUSE of vocational training, BECAUSE of micro-credit, BECAUSE of on-going mentoring, BECAUSE of organizations that come together and BLEND their unique traits to CREATE a beautifully orchestrated symphony of growth, caring and potential we see a BRIGHT HOPE for the future.

The United Nation has identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The vision of these goals is to transform our world and to improve people’s lives and prosperity on a healthy planet. “It applies to all countries through partnerships and peace. Countries, regions, cities, the business sector, and civil society are actively engaged in implementing the SDGs. They are mobilizing efforts to end all forms of poverty, fighting inequalities, and tackling climate change while ensuring that no one is left behind.”

At its heart these SDGs, is an urgent call for action by all countries – for developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth.

While our mission here at Mentors International focuses on SDG goal #1 of ending poverty, the programs offered by Mentors International address 11 of the other 17 SDGs as well. We will be sharing these in future blog posts as we are getting ready to attend the UN’s upcoming conference in Salt Lake City.
