Never say you can’t!

Eufemia is a single mother of three in the Dominican Republic. She makes desserts, including traditional Dominican sweets known as dulces criollos.

Before Mentors International, her business earned very little. She longed to give her children a better life but felt lost and discouraged. Early on, motivation was hard. After a month with Mentors International, she still saw few results, so her mentor, Leidy, connected her with another participant who sells at fairs across the country.

Encouraged, Eufemia tried a local fair. Her first attempt was remarkable as her sales tripled. With ongoing support from Mentors International, she learned to organize her finances, keep records, and market and package her products professionally. Today she earns about $2,000 per month, up from $200.

Her motto now is simple: never say you can’t. Eufemia dreams of opening a large store and sharing her sweets on a bigger scale, confident, focused, and building a brighter future for her family.
