Flor, is the sole provider for her elderly parents, one of whom has a disability due to a hip condition. For years, she worked tirelessly in the tobacco fields, struggling to provide for their needs.
Joining the training program from Mentors International was a turning point in her life. She gained valuable financial skills that helped her better manage both her personal finances and her tobacco farming enterprise — the primary source of her income. Additionally, the chickens she received through the Giving Machines project provided an opportunity to generate extra income.
Flor was deeply committed to the program, attending every session without fail and developing strong financial habits. The knowledge she gained empowered her to see new possibilities for her future.
“I feel happy, and this program has been a blessing for me. We’ve learned to keep track of our finances and realized that chickens aren’t just for food — they can be the foundation of a small business. I want to continue raising chickens and grow my business in the future.”
