Mariam is the kind-hearted leader of the loan center group in Tolon. She has been working with Mentors Ghana in Tamale for the last year, and now she is sharing her knowledge with the women in Tolon, serving as their group leader.

She stands proudly next to her new freezer that she was able to purchase with the funds from her third micro-loan from Mentors Ghana. Mariam is now able to add frozen meats and fish to her shop’s inventory.

Mariam started her small business to help support her three children because she is their sole provider. After she completed the business training from Mentors Ghana, she used her first micro-loan to purchase additional food commodities and drinks, including Coca-Cola products for her shop.

Mariam’s children are now in school, and they are improving their math skills as they help work in the family shop after school. Mariam is confident that her children’s future is much brighter and that they will have many more opportunities to succeed. All because Mentors Ghana came into their lives and provided them with the knowledge and financial assistance to put them on the path towards greater self-reliance.
