Miguel is Leading his Community

Miguel has lived in the same small village with his wife for over 40 years. As the leader of Regadero Alto and the regional association of tobacco growers, he has dedicated his life to agriculture, with tobacco as the primary crop. From the start, Miguel has been a committed leader, inspiring his community to participate in Mentors International’s training programs.

Grateful for the support they received, Miguel expresses deep appreciation to Mentors International and the Giving Machines for providing irrigation supplies, including a pipeline for the aqueduct that now supplies water to two villages.

“This assistance has significantly improved our quality of life by giving us access to more water,” he says. “This was a very important project. No previous service provider has ever shown genuine interest in our community—let alone taught them anything valuable.”

Beyond improving the irrigation infrastructure, the lessons from Mentors International on growth mindset, goal setting, and financial management have empowered the community, equipping them with the tools to build a better future. Despite his challenges with writing, Miguel remains steadfast in his leadership, ensuring progress continues.

Today, there is a renewed sense of hope and optimism—not just for Miguel, but for his entire community.
