Working Together To Transform The World.
Developed by the United Nations (U.N.), these 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to transform our world, ultimately improving lives and spreading prosperity throughout a healthy planet. At its core, these SDGs represent an urgent call for action by all countries, both developed and developing, in a global partnership.
With the understanding that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand in hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth, all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
While our mission focuses explicitly on goal #1 of ending poverty, at Mentors International, our programs address many of the other SDGs as well, particularly Goals 1 – 8.
By 2030, this goal aims to eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere. The U.N. estimates that approximately 780 million people live in extreme poverty throughout the world, which is measured as people living on less than $1.25 a day.
By 2030, this goal aims to end hunger and to ensure that all people have access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food all year round, in particular, people who are poverty-stricken and in vulnerable situations. The U.N. estimates that around 815 million people worldwide are undernourished.
As individuals increase their incomes with the support of Mentors International they are able to provide more nutritious meals for their families.
In developing countries, many people are too poor to afford health insurance or even a doctor’s visit. When a family is able to grow their business and improve their income, they become able to afford to doctor’s visits, medicine, and even nutritious food, which improves their overall health.
One of our mentees, Charlita Roa, used her small business loan to open an affordable and safe birthing clinic in the Philippines.
Our inclusive business, financial, and personal development courses are free to anyone who chooses to attend. These high-quality, entrepreneurship-focused training programs empower hundreds of thousands of people to transform their lives.
72% of Mentors International participants are women, many of whom are single mothers seeking an opportunity to succeed. With the right mentoring and support, they are able to grow their businesses and provide for their families.

While we do not directly provide access to reliable, sustainable, and modern energy, we do make it possible for families to increase their capacity to earn, which allows them to afford energy.
Carmelina is very excited that she is now able to afford to pay for lights for her home.
To help achieve this goal we focus on strengthening the financial literacy of our program participants while equipping them with the knowledge to make informed decisions. In addition, we collaborate with trusted local lending partners to help entrepreneurs access the working capital they need to grow and sustain their businesses.
