April is National Volunteer Month, and we would like to to recognize the invaluable contribution of our volunteer mentors who aid us in extending our outreach to numerous communities in the countries we operate in.
“Mentors are special gifts to the world. They encourage, motivate, reinforce, and guide others to reach their own individual greatness. After all, mentors have the power to transform lives.” – Lonnie Ali.
Last year Mentors International trained about 300 individuals to become volunteer mentors. Each of these volunteers completed a structured mentor certification course taught by our professional mentors. After they finished this program, they identified 1-2 individuals they could reach out to and mentor.
With dedication and compassion, our volunteer mentors helped guide individuals to manage their finances, set personal and professional goals, save for the future, and avoid debt. They provided weekly lessons on business principles, using our entrepreneur manual and training resources to help individuals improve their businesses.
Through the efforts of our volunteer mentors, we were able to reach more than 300 additional individuals, lifting them up to greater self-reliance. By sharing their personal experiences and knowledge, our mentors are extending our impact and increasing our ability to help even more communities in developing countries. These volunteers are extending our impact and increasing the ability of our mentors to help improve even more communities in the developing countries where we serve.
Mentoring is a transformative tool for individuals and communities alike. As a mentor, you become an advocate for a better world, bringing out the best in others, creating leaders, and empowering them to become the best versions of themselves.
As we celebrate National Volunteer Month, here are some ways you can support our legion of volunteers.
Mentoring teaches us to lift each other up, creating powerful and positive outcomes along the way.
Thank you for being part of the Mentors International Community.
