In the small town of Muna, Yucatán, lives Saraí with her husband and their two young daughters. From the time she studied a technical career in confectionery, Saraí dreamed of owning her own pastry business.
Like many mothers, Saraí chose to dedicate herself to raising her children, but she also wanted to help support her family financially. With determination, she started selling cakes and desserts from home.
Her business was active, but not profitable. One of her biggest challenges was setting the right prices to cover costs and still make a profit. Everything changed the day she attended a community workshop for entrepreneurs and learned about Mentors International.
Learning to Dream Bigger
Through mentoring, Saraí discovered the power of managing her business finances effectively. She began to pay herself a salary, created the habit of saving, and set clear goals for her business growth.
Step by step, she implemented what she was learning, expanding her sales channels, promoting her desserts for events, and offering individual portions at local points of sale.
As her business grew, so did her vision. She set a goal to buy a larger refrigerator to increase production. By saving diligently, Saraí was able to purchase it with her own earnings, something she once believed was impossible. “I never thought I could afford big investments for my business. Now I know that by managing my finances and setting goals, I can achieve anything,” she proudly shared.
A Growing Business, A Brighter Future
Today, Saraí continues to train in confectionery to offer a wider variety of desserts with even higher quality. Her growing business has created jobs for others as well depending on demand, she now employs 2 to 4 workers.
Saraí is deeply grateful for the mentoring she has received. “Mentors helped me change my limiting beliefs. Sometimes, because we are housewives, we doubt what we can achieve. But through what I have learned, I have proven that I can do it,” she said.
Looking Ahead
Her mentor describes her as “studious, careful, and passionate.” With her dedication, Saraí is on the path to opening her own pastry shop and building an independent production space. Most importantly, she is creating financial stability for her family and inspiring other women in her community to believe in their potential.
