Starting a New Keke Business
Gideon Omohkudu George of the 🏀BYU basketball team wanted to make a difference back home.🌍
Most Keke drivers never have the chance to own their taxi. Many individuals will drive for years, working seven days a week while giving away most of their profits to the owners of the Keke.
Gideon and his father wanted to change this practice, so they started a new Keke business where drivers could rent to own. This is a brand-new concept for this region.
Gideon and his father have taken what they have learned from their mentors and are now putting their business plan into action. The father runs the business while Gideon is away studying at Brigham Young University.
Four new Kekes have been purchased, and drivers have been selected. These drivers are ecstatic. For the first time, they have the opportunity to become business owners. Once they own their Keke, they can drive for themselves, keeping all the profits, or hire other drivers to work for them while charging fair prices.
These Keke drivers take pride in their work while taking extra good care of their taxis to keep them running soundly. These Keke drivers work their way out of poverty with dignity and respect. This innovative business model will bless many lives.
UPDATE: In January the first four Kekes were purchased. This summer five more have been added to the business. Nine Keke drivers and their families are experiencing the joys of self-reliance and growing their businesses.
“Many thanks to Danny and Mentors International for their support and mentoring that has made this business possible.” – Gideon 🏀💙
