“I do it for my family. By working together we become stronger.” Hilda and her family are pillars in their community and they are often found serving others.

Hilda Soler, her husband, and four children live in Honduras. Her husband has worked for the Hondutel telephone company for many years. Hilda wanted to help support her family by providing advanced education and opportunities for her children. She was introduced to Mentors Honduras and knew this was the opportunity she was looking for. Hilda learned quickly the business skills needed, received a small loan and started a pastry business and grilled meat business, selling from their home.

Hilda says, “I am very grateful to Mentors Honduras. Due to their valuable financial help and teachings, our family income has increased, our financial situation and family’s environment have largely improved. We all work together and when my husband comes home at the end of the day, he helps with the grilled meat business at night.”

“As a result of the loans and training, I was able to save money and purchase equipment that has increased our production and selling capacity twice as much. We are paying for our daughter’s education at college and our boy’s missionary service. Our goal for the future is to have a bigger business in a comfortable place to work.”
