Before meeting Mentors International, Damata faced severe financial crises that left her homeless, desperately seeking help from friends and relatives. However, everything changed when Mentors International came to her community and extended their unwavering support and mentoring to Damata.
Under the guidance of Mentors International, Damata started selling clothing and bowls, embracing her newfound entrepreneurial spirit. Because of Mentors International’s comprehensive training on self-reliance, business principles, production, and savings, Damata embarked on a transformative journey towards economic empowerment.
With her determination and the knowledge, she acquired, Damata qualified for her first micro-loan of $90 USD, generously provided by donors of Mentors International. With this initial investment, she confidently launched her business, pouring her heart and soul into making it successful. Through sheer dedication and hard work, Damata paid off her loan on time, proving her resilience and unwavering spirit.
Damata joyfully shared, “The profits I make from my business have transformed the lives of my family and me. We now have a place to call home, as I am a proud landlady. Our meals are nutritious and healthy, a luxury we couldn’t afford before.” She continued, “Before, I had no knowledge of business management or the concept of savings. But now, I save about $3.50 USD every week from the earnings of my business.
