Ana didn’t have a job, and because of her lack of education and training, she didn’t have many options. She didn’t have the funds to pay for further schooling or training.

When a family member told her about the Learning and Mentoring Center in Merida Mexico she was very excited. Ana is a creative person and has many dreams for the future. She was excited to learn about the graphic design classes taught at our school. At first, it seemed unbelievable for her that she did not have to pay with money for the course, instead, she had to pay with hours of service to the community. The personalized attention of the teacher, methodology, and quality of the classes, motivated her to continue attending.

Included with all of the courses we teach at our Learning and Mentoring Centers include our “Keystone Self-Improvement” This course influenced her to become more responsible and to have a greater determination to successfully finish this quarter. She also worked on preparing her “Personal Creed” and developing personal values.

As part of her community service to help “pay” for her schooling Ana helped paint a local primary school.

After her graduation, Ana got a job working for a digital marketing company designing banners for the company’s website.

“I am so grateful for the Learning and Mentoring Center. I now have a good job and I am able to help my family. Not only did I learn graphic design, but I learned how to set and accomplish goals. I learned the importance of saving and preparing for the future. I was grateful for the opportunities to serve and help others in my neighborhood.” Ana
