Bhawani and Gautamraj’s story is about perseverance, resilience, and love. Despite facing numerous challenges from the very beginning of their marriage, they have worked together with mutual respect and support to overcome obstacles that came their way.
Their inter-caste marriage caused them to be disowned by their families, which left them feeling lost and hopeless. However, instead of giving up, they continued to push forward, and Gautamraj migrated to South Korea in search of work to support their growing family. Unfortunately, although he was making more money in South Korea, Bhawani’s health deteriorated, and Gautamraj had to return home to care for her.
Their little savings were invested in a poultry farm, but the business failed due to their lack of knowledge. This left them in a state of confusion and disappointment, but they didn’t give up. Bhawani’s participation in business training and mentoring gave her the confidence to believe in their ability to succeed if they planned and worked hard.
With the guidance of their mentors, they started a small grocery store with a loan of $1,000, which they paid back in about a year. They differentiated their store by providing home delivery service and listening to customers to build a loyal customer base. In addition, by keeping a record of their income and expenses, they were able to make improvements and grow their business.
Now, they are making a net profit of $154 each month, which allows them to save and invest back into their store. In addition, they have diversified their income by keeping goats and growing vegetables, which helps them pay for their children’s school fees. Bhawani and Gautamraj’s story inspires all those who face hardships and challenges but continue to work hard and strive for success with compassion and determination.
Bhawani and her husband, Gautamraj, work together with love and respect. They have faced many challenges but working together and with the mentoring and training from Mentors International, they know that they can overcome any obstacle in their path.
