March 8th is International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women living in poverty and to take action to empower them.

Oftentimes, women come to us having little education and even fewer opportunities because of their circumstances. Each of them may see happiness and prosperity differently and, therefore have different goals that they’d like to reach. That’s why we start the mentorship process by getting to know them, their families, and their personal circumstances. We help our mentees identify their long-term goals and set their short-term objectives, then we help them devise a plan to achieve their vision of success.

Here are three ways Mentors International Empowers Women

1 – Providing education and business skills training: Education is one of the most effective tools for empowering women. Providing education and business skills training can help women in poverty gain the knowledge, skills, and income they need to improve their lives and provide for their families.

2 – Increasing access to financial resources: Women in poverty often lack access to financial resources, making it difficult for them to start businesses or invest in their futures. Providing microfinance loans, savings accounts, and other financial resources can help impoverished women become more economically empowered.

3 – Encouraging women to participate in decision-making: Women in poverty are often excluded from decision-making processes that affect their lives. Encouraging women’s participation in decision-making can help ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed.
