Cape Verde

Serving Since January 2023

Cape Verde is facing economic challenges due to the impact of COVID-19 and long-term drought, with over 70% of the population living below the poverty line. The government is taking steps to diversify the economy and promote sustainable development, but this will take time.

We are humbled by the opportunity to help provide a solution to the poverty and economic crises with our mentoring, business development, and vocational training courses.

Country Director

Monica Cardoso

Monica Cardosa serves as our country director in Cape Verde. She was hired in August of 2022 to help us establish our operations in this country. She helped set up our Center for Education and Mentoring and our business mentoring programs.

Monica has worked as an English Teacher since 2006, teaching children, young people, adults, institutions, and specific professional groups. For two years, she served as the Coordinator for the Center of Adult Education and Training of Praia, by the Delegate of the Ministry of Education. She is dedicated and committed to helping adults become better educated.

In 2017 Monica and her husband founded the “HEAR ME TOO” MOVEMENT”. A project for children and teens geared at preventing violence and maintaining peace in the communities. They provide training in conflict management.

In 2019 Monica create the “WAKE UP, QUEEN” movement. Their mission is to help create a world in which all women and girls are strong, safe, protected, respected, and listened to, without exception. She wants to educate women and empower them to live free from fears, and oppression, knowing how to identify abusive relationships and other subtle forms of violence that can lead to femicide.

We are so lucky to have her as part of our team.
